A few months ago, I received an invite I could not refuse. It said:
“Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal with Rivian. This weekend we’re at Handlebar Coffee Roasters from Friday, June 23 – Sunday, June 25 from 7am – 5pm. Meet the Rivian team, earn more about our vehicles and meet other members of the Rivian community. We hope you can join us.”
After having visited Rivian at their wonderful Space in Venice Beach, I did not want to miss the chance meet to connect with the friendly team and get another close look at these adventure vehicles on “home turf” – and at my favorite coffeeshop in Santa Barbara, the Handlebar.
In short, the event was great. The team was extremely friendly and patient answering all the questions of early reservations holders like me, or explaining the cars to to curious crowds who stumbled upon the gathering at the coffeeshop on De La Vina street.
Needless to say that it was helpful to have the opportunity to test drive the R1S and get another feel on driving it and being on the road. The experience made me even more excited to take delivery of the SUV in the middle of September.
